Season Review 2000
Season
2000 saw the junior section in competition.
The
Millennium League, a newly established under-15's competition, involved
eight clubs within the local area playing one match against each other.
This took place through May/June and we finished fourth in the league
- not bad for our first ever competition.
The
Lord Taverners under-16 knock-out competition was hit with two major problems.
Firstly, bad weather saw fixtures cancelled, re-arranged and cancelled
again, leaving first round matches being played in the final week of that
stage. Secondly, most of our players were involved in GCSE exams. This
left the team struggling to find eleven players, yet alone fielding a
strong side. Needless to say, we did not progress into the second round.
A
recruitment drive at the beginning of the 2000 season doubled the number
of juniors at the club. This created a need for more coaching staff and
happily, two members qualified as coaches plus a junior as an assistant.
This means ATCC now has an established junior section and we can only
go from strength to strength over the coming years!
