Here's my Golden Moment...

I don't know if it will qualify because its not specifically about a match - more about getting there, and I can't tell you when it was except it was a long time ago - must have been in the seventies.

Once upon a time we used to have a minibus, an old and clapped out (not as good as being clapped in - sorry) green Ford Transit. The 1st team had an away league match at Standard, I think, in the old Premier Division 2. We set off toward Cov and of course the minibus develops clutch trouble. The driver was old cricket legend John Clark, and he decided the best plan was to go through the middle of Cov, but by the time we get into the City centre the clutch has gone completely, and there are loads of sets or traffic lights , and they are all at red. So we stop at the lights and the engine stalls. The only way is to push start it when the lights change, so myself and other legends Roy Lewis and Gudger jump out of the back, shove it through the lights and when the engine kicks into life jump back in again taking care to close the doors behind us. We did this through four sets of lights - we must have looked right idiots - and by the time we got to the ground we were an hour late and absolutely kanckered (I will leave that typographical error)

Needless to say we were well and truly kanckered at cricket as well.
