We take a look at Paul "Stroller" Oldham's typical day...

"Alright old lad! It's a Saturday and I am not at work. Normally I will have a lie in, but Sally is away this weekend at a conference so I have the house to myself - while the cat's away, the mice will play! I am up at around three in the morning to flick through some old magazines I keep in the shed. My favourite one has this feature on the Qualcast 620GX second series lawnmower with adjustable blade heights. No fiddling around with your screwdriver bending your back here - a simple lever located beneath the right handle of the machine enables you to select the length of grass you wish to remove to the nearest two millimetres. This is one sexy mower! Ooh baby! Paul OldhamThen at around half seven I will pop down the cricket club and sit on a bag of loam for an hour - I find it incredibly therapeutic. Merris the groundsman might pop down to mark the pitch out, but I will probably give him the morning off. If nothing else, it gives me a chance to get the new roller out and I might even treat myself to a go with the scarifier! It's not the best in the world but it's done the club proud over the years and I have become very attached to it. I might even take it home to bed with me tonight but I don't think there's room for it as well as the bowling machine. In the afternoon, I will probably pop into V-Sports to look at the prices of various bits of equipment and compare them in value for money terms with a selection of ground maintenance tools. If the weather is fine, I might ride around in the tractor for an hour or two, but with all the rain we have had this winter, I shall probably just sit on top of it in the garage until sunset. Before I lock up to go home, I will caress the spiker for several hours and nip into a garden centre to look at bags of fertiliser until the Police come. Ready for bed, I will put a tape of my favourite lawnmower noises on and read the latest John Deere catalogue, before fantasising about being trapped in the stock cupboard at Boundary Sports prior to a new season. I'll see you anon!"
