Brooks Looks the Fart!

Second team wicket-keeper and junior coach Mike Brooks was left with egg on his face recently when he arrived at a nets session dressed as Jimmy Connors circa 1975. In an embarrassing escapade, Brooks turned up at the club's Ratcliffe Road headquarters believing there was a fancy dress competition and found some ill-fitting tennis clobber from decades gone by. But club members were taken aback as Brooks unashamedly continued to take the training net session in his Wimbledon regalia, acting as if nothing was amiss.

One source commented "He behaved as if nothing was wrong, even though there is no way he could possibly wear a Jimmy Connors 1970's tennis kit to a cricket practice and hope to get away with it. He was just the same as he always is though, talking for hours about how he used to open the batting with Jack Hobbs and how he once played against Lord Hawke in a charity game. He even had his Mann's Brown Bitter when we had packed up."

Yet it all ended in disaster later that evening when Fire and Rescue crews were called to his house to assist in removing his shorts which were almost as tight as Mike Showell.
