RESULT: Atherstone Won By 83 Runs

Atherstone completed an excellent Bank Holiday weekend with a
convincing 83-run win against relegation-threatened Hampton at
Ratcliffe Road on Monday.
Asked
to bat first on another good Ratcliffe Road wicket, the Adders
received their usual quick start from Matt Pickering and although
wickets fell regularly, runs came at a healthy rate with Luke Reeves
(31), Dan Brooks (31) and Simon Grayson (34) all making useful
contributions.
Veteran all-rounder Vic Clements then made sure the Adders posted a
healthy score, hitting an undefeated 41 as Atherstone finished their
50 overs with 231 for 8.
Although Pakistani professional Saeed looked dangerous whilst at the
wicket, Atherstone opening bowlers Matt Pickering and Ian Niblock
both turned in good spells, their figures only spoiled by boundaries
hit past a crowded infield.
Both
were supported by an excellent fielding performance from the Adders,
Pickering finishing with 4-52 and Niblock 3-62 as both made the
decisive inroads.
Clements mopped up the tail with two wickets and there was a maiden
first team wicket for Danny Blakeman as the Adders claimed victory
and 24 points with 83 runs and 13.1 overs to spare.
This
win , their seventh of the year, is the most ever by an Atherstone
team in the Warwickshire Premier League and they will be looking to
consolidate on their second place in the table when they visit
bottom club Southam next Saturday.Scoreboard
